This is a spacious and inviting home, suitable for a small family or a couple, recently designed and created after a complete renovation. A private entrance leads to a large living room with a high cathedral ceiling, a pleasant area for relaxing with a book, watching TV, or playing games after a full Door County day. The queen sofa-bed in the living room provides sleeping for two when needed. The living room leads to a large open-plan full kitchen and dining room (also with its own cathedral ceiling). Here there is a dining table (seating six) plus a kitchen island, with bar stools. The large bedroom has a king-sized bed with luxury linens, built-in closet space, and a full-length mirror. Hand-crafted cherry-wood furniture completes the room.
The home has 1-1/2 baths and feels light and airy, thanks to the generous paned windows overlooking the native planting. Finally, a covered raised porch outside the front entrance provides an attractive private space in which to sit around the table or on the double swing in the evenings.
The recent renovation has resulted in a lovely Door County-style home that comfortably pairs the old and the new. An eclectic mix of local and original artwork decorates the walls, which are painted in soft greens and whites, perhaps a reminiscence of apples. (The six apple trees on the property that remain from the old Green Gables orchards still yield more than 3,000 sweet apples each autumn – deep red ones, though).
The Apple Retreat sleeps up to 4.
