Plum is a gorgeous vacation home, set on two levels, suitable for a group or family of up to six. There are two large bedrooms upstairs: The Master has a king-sized bed, and the second bedroom has two queen-sized beds. These are separated by a Jack-and-Jill bathroom, which has proved convenient and highly satisfactory, even with a full complement of guests. Downstairs there is a very large open-plan living and dining room, with a half bathroom. A seating area, with easy chairs, a coffee table, and a sofa bed (which sleeps 2 when needed), features a gas fireplace and large TV.
The long dining table is ideal for family meals prepared in the full kitchen, or for gathering around (perhaps with one of the many board games). Large picture windows provide plenty of light and an ever-changing view of the outstanding gardens. The house is decorated in rich plum color, and the furnishings throughout are a comfortable and eclectic blend of what might be called “Door County Casual” – a juxtaposition of lovingly used items alongside new ones (such as the beds). There’s a slight feeling of stepping back in time, and you’ll quickly feel that this is your very own Door County home. Immediately outside the dining room, and within your private garden area, there is a small patio. This has seating, an umbrella, and a propane-fueled grill for your use.
The Plum Retreat Sleeps up to 6.
